Counselor in Training Program

Programs

Our Counselor in Training (or CIT) Program is the final year before becoming a staff member. The CITs spend about 75% of their day working with either a specific camp group or specialty area. The CITs are mentored by our counselors and specialists, while taking the next step towards becoming a staff member. CITs will get a chance to apply the skills learned working at camp, or wherever they decide to go in the future. Each week during the latter part of their day, the CITs spend time with their Division Leader learning about different life skills through meaningful discussion. They spend time teamwork building and problem solving, and they choose a few activities they’d like to participate in.

What sets our CITs apart is that each summer, our CITs and LITs work together on a project to give back to the community. In past summers, they have volunteered at local food pantries and senior centers. They also create a program to raise money for a charity of their choice. Over the years, they have raised thousands of dollars for organizations like the Ronald McDonald House, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and local families in need.
