Barry Wasserman, Ph.D., and Ruth Ann Weiss, M.A., Owners/Directors
Barry has been a Camp Director for 30 years. Prior to creating Eagle’s Landing, Barry was the Director of both Eagle River Day Camp in Monroe for 8 years and Lake-Vu Day Camp in East Brunswick for 14 years. Barry served on the Board of Advisors for Camp America, a division of the American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS). He has also previously served as President, Vice President and Treasurer of the NJ Association of Private Camps, and as a Board Member of the American Camp Association.
Ruth Ann has been a Camp Director for over 20 years. Prior to Eagle’s Landing, Ruth Ann was the Director of Eagle River Day Camp in Monroe for 8 years and the Head Counselor of Lake-Vu Day Camp for 4 years. Ruth Ann grew up in camp and spent many years working in non-profit facilities. She has served as an administrator at camps in both New Jersey and Delaware. Ruth Ann received her certification as a Pre-School teacher and as a Kindergarten teacher. She also supervised an after-school program working with children in grades K-8. Hanna Wasserman - Assistant Director
Hanna is a lifelong camper. After 12 years as a camper and 12 years as camp staff, she pursued her passion and worked locally at State Theatre New Jersey for 5 years. Camp has called her back and she is excited to return as Assistant Director! Hanna graduated from Boston University with degrees in Communications and Theater Management. Her primary focus at camp is on IT, facilties, and operations. She loves going outside with the campers and staff, but her favorite jobs by far are at the pools and the ropes course.
Carlen Smith - Program Coordinator
Carlen is excited to be a part of our leadership team for another summer. You can always see Carlen smile as she walks around camp every day. She loves to watch the campers learn new skills as they participate in the variety of activies around camp. During the school year, Carlen teaches anatomy and AP Science classes at East Brunswick High School. Carlen comes to camp with her son. Click here to meet Carlen!
Tammy Calefato - Inclusion Director and Behaviorist
Tammy is returning for another summer to run our Inclusion Program. Tammy has vast experience working with children who have disabilities either behavioral, emotional or physical. Tammy is a certified Social worker and Behaviorist and a huge advocate for children who need additional assistance. She lives locally in North Brunswick with her husband and two daughters (yes, of course they are ELDC campers). Tammy is constantly finding new ways to involve our inclusion campers in mainstream activities and help them to make new friends at camp. Tammy was a camp parent before working at ELDC so she understands our philosophy of putting campers first and to make everyone feel at home while at camp. Click here to meet Tammy!
Jamie Figliolino - Special Events Coordinator
Jamie joins us as the Special Events Coordinator after 4 summers supervising the Ropes Course. She is creative, caring, a great planner, and we are fortunate to have her as a part of our camp family. Jamie is a third grade teacher in Woodbridge Township and a softball coach for both middle school and high school students. She is passionate about making children feel good about themselves and she has amazing camp spirit (you will often see her running around in a tutu). Jamie lives with her family locally in East Brunswick and her daughter is a camper here as well.
Rachel Botnick - Division Leader
Rachel is the Division Leader for the Kiddie Kingdom boys. Growing up, Rachel was both a camper and staff in both day and overnight camps. She was previously a Specialist working with different age groups, and those little guys captured her heart. Rachel has been teaching elementary school in Jersey City for over 15 years. Rachel lives locally in East Brunswick with her twin daughters and literally always has a smile on her face! Click here to meet Rachel!
Rachelle Tilbor - Division Leader
Rachelle is outside playing with our 3, 4, and 5 year old girls all day long. She loves working with our youngest campers and it shines through in everything she does. During the year, Rachelle is a Pre-School teacher. She has been at camp for over 15 summers! Click here to meet Rachelle!
Shira Wasserman - Division Leader
Shira is known for her silliness and creativity all around camp. Shira has worked in a variety of roles over the past 10+ years, and has been a huge help wherever she goes! She currently teaches in Ithaca, NY as an upper elementary self-contained teacher for students with emotional and behavioral disorders. Shira comes back to her "happy place" every summer to play with the 1st and 2nd grade boys. Click here to meet Shira!
Becca Schnier - Division Leader
Becca is always smiling and laughing! Her dream to become a teacher has now come true at Barclay Brook Elementary School in Monroe Township, where she teaches 1st grade. She enjoys teaching because she feels that she is able to relate to every student on their individual level. Now that she is certified, her first stop was to come back to camp so she can be with children all year round. Becca returns to working with the 1st and 2nd grade girls, and has been with us for over 5 summers. Click here to meet Becca!
Justin Hirsch - Divison Leader
Justin is returning to his 3rd and 4th grade boys for another summer! Justin has been a part of our leadership team for over 10 years. He currently teaches English and Special Education in Newark. His energy, creativity and empathy are reflected throughout his campers and counselors. Justin lives locally with his wife and two sons, who are current ELDC campers. Click here to meet Justin!
Christina Patella - Divison Leader
Christina spent her summers growing up at Eagle's Landing. After 12 years as a camper and over 5 years as staff, she will now be spending time with our 3rd and 4th grade girls. Christina is incredibly organized and very supportive - a great combination for middle school campers. During the off season, she teaches Math in Randolph High School. Click here to meet Christina!
Todd Gural - Divison Leader
Todd is returning to camp for another fun-filled summer. Eagle's Landing is excited to have Todd back supervising the 5th and 6th grade boys, which he's been doing for over 10 years. Todd teaches middle school in Metuchen during the school year. He is easy going and adaptable to all personalities. Joining him at camp this summer are his two daughters. Click here to meet Todd!
Robyn Silberstein - Divison Leader
Robyn teaches in Eatontown during the school year and is looking forward to another summer at ELDC! She loves to be outdoors with her 5th and 6th grade girls crafting, playing sports or swimming. Dan Schmeidler - Divison Leader
Dan has been with our camp family for 10 years. Dan is known for his mellow demeanor and likes being outside. Dan is returning once again to work with the Upper Camp boys of 7th and 8th grade. During the school year Dan teaches a 5th grade inclusion class in Summit. Dan's has a daughter who is an ELDC staff member, and a son and a daughter who are ELDC campers.Click here to meet Dan!
Abby Salgado - Divison Leader
Abby is returning for her 13th year to lead our 7th and 8th grade girls. Best described as upbeat and funny, Abby currently teaches Physical Education in East Brunswick. She returns to camp with her 2 sons! Click here to meet Abby!
Kevin Lynn - Divison Leader
Kevin has been with our camp family for over 20 years and is returning to lead our oldest division, the Leaders in Training (LITs) and Counselors in Training (CITs). Kevin has a strong background in both day and overnight camps and brings that experience to Eagle's Landing! Kevin lives in East Brunswick with his wife and three kids (one of which is brand new)!
